While we’re all acquainted with the term symphony, a “Singphony” is a trademark opera music show by Polish group The Baltic Neopolis Orchestra, which marries orchestra playing with opera singing.
This year, Toyota’s signature Corporate Social Responsibility program called Toyota Classics, brings the beautiful melody of the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra under the baton of artistic director and violinist Vasko Vassilev, and musical arrangement by Singapore-born pianist and composer Pamela Tan Nicholson to the country for its fund-raising. The Polish Singphony will feature opera masterpieces such as Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Turandot, Verdi’s La Traviata, and Bizet’s Carmen, and more. The Philippines is only the first stop of the group, with various more fund-raising concerts in other Asian countries.
On top of this beautiful international musical feast, there will be performances by world-renowned homegrown artists Jed Madela, Morissette Amon, and the Loboc Children’s Choir. As part of the efforts of Toyota Classics to nurture local talent, the Loboc Children’s Choir will also be undergoing through a master class with the Polish group.
This year, proceeds from the event will go to Pulong Sta. Cruz National High School (PSCNHS), what started as a small school that blossomed into a full-blown educational institution that continues to inspire and educate.
